Charty 1.3 – Hephaestus

From the archive: this post describes an older version of Charty. Some things have changed in Charty 2.0 — the Apply Quick Style action was replaced by the Highlight Series and Modify Markers actions, the French, Spanish, and Portuguese localizations were dropped, and the in-app video tutorials were removed.

Charty's third major update is here, just in time for iOS 14: 1.3 – Hephaestus.

Charts on your Home Screen

iOS 14 introduces Home Screen widgets, and Charty is ready for them on day one. You can now pin your charts directly to your Home Screen and see your data without even opening the app.

Widgets come in small, medium and large sizes. Long-press a widget, tap Edit Widget, and pick which of your charts it should display. Track your workouts, your habits, your budget — whatever you chart through Shortcuts can now live right on your Home Screen.

Combine widgets with Shortcuts automations and your charts update themselves throughout the day: run a shortcut in the morning to refresh your data, and your Home Screen follows along.

The codename

Charty 1.3 is codenamed Hephaestus!

Hephaestus is the greek god of the forge, craftsmanship and metalworking — the blacksmith of the gods, who built their weapons, their palaces and even their automatons. It felt like the right name for the update that forges your charts right into your Home Screen.
